From October, 16th to 22th, in Porto Pollo the World Kite League 2016 final
The International Kiteboarding takes place once again in Italy. From October, 16th to 22th, 2016, Porto Pollo, an authentic Kiteboarding paradise in the district of Palau, Sardinia, will host the Grand Slam, final leg of the World Kite League 2016, organized by GLEsport under the aegis of IKA (International Kiteboarding Association) and with the contribution of Regione Autonoma della Sardegna together with the Department of Tourism and the Municipality of Palau.
The Sardinia Grand Slam will be the final act of an international championship that has previously brought the best kiteboarders of the world to El Gouna (Round 1, Egypt, March, 20th-27th 2016) and Leucate (Round 2, France, April, 15th-22th, 2016). In September, 20th to 25th, the Round 3 of the World Kite League will be run, scheduled in Pingtan (China), as last act before the Sardinian Porto Pollo final.
Registrations open officially on September 15th 2016 and the organization expects the participation of more than 70 athletes from 20 nations. The Sardinia Grand Slam is open to Freestyle and Big Air categories, both Men and Women, and offers a total money prize of 50,000 Euros. Great expectations obviously for big international riders like the Brazilian Carlos Mario, currently first in the world ranking, the Dutchman Youri Zoon, and Spaniard Alex Pastor.
Il Kiteboarding internazionale sbarca nuovamente in Italia. Dal 16 al 22 ottobre 2016 Porto Pollo, un vero e proprio paradiso del Kite nel comune di Palau, ospiterà il Sardinia Grand Slam, tappa finale della World Kite League 2016 organizzata dalla GLEsport sotto l’egida della IKA (International Kiteboarding Association), e con il contributo della Regione Autonoma della Sardegna con l’assessorato al Turismo e del Comune di Palau.
Il Sardinia Grand Slam sarà l’atto conclusivo di un campionato internazionale che ha già portato i più forti kiters del mondo ad El Gouna (Round 1, Egitto, 20/27 marzo 2016) e Leucate (Round 2, Francia, 15/22 aprile 2016). Dal 20 al 25 settembre andrà in scena il Round 3 della World Kite League in programma a Pingtan (Cina), ultimo atto prima della finale sarda di Porto Pollo.
Le iscrizioni apriranno ufficialmente il 15 settembre 2016 e l’organizzazione prevede la partecipazione di oltre 70 atleti provenienti da 20 nazioni. Il Sardinia Grand Slam sarà aperto alle categorie Freestyle e Big Air, sia Men che Woman, e metterà in palio un montepremi complessivo di 50.000 euro.
C’è grande attesa ovviamente per i big rider inter
nazionali come il brasiliano Carlos Mario, attualmente primo nel ranking mondiale, l’olandese Youri Zoon, e lo spagnolo Alex Pastor. Sarà però soprattutto l’occasione per vedere all’opera in Italia, in un contest di questo livello, il laziale Gianmaria Coccoluto.
Classe 1993, Campione Italiano 2015 e 2014 e secondo classificato agli Europei del 2014, l’atleta originario di Terracina ma local di Stagnone di Marsala (Sicilia), si presenta alla tappa sarda dopo aver passato i trials in occasione del Round 2 a Leucate ed aver disputato il main event francese. Attualmente è 27esimo nel ranking mondiale, con una sola tappa del tour alle spalle.
Sul versante femminile tutte le speranze sono riposte nelle abilità di Francesca Bagnoli. Anche la livornese, classe 1994, ha ben figurato in occasione della tappa francese guadagnandosi un momentaneo 13esimo posto nel ranking mondiale.
